Founded in 2016, Wise IT Consulting specializes in providing tailored IT solutions and recruiting top-tier talent. The company focuses on delivering key resources for critical projects and roles, ensuring that clients receive the exact support they need. Whether it’s sourcing developers, network engineers, or fractional CIOs, Wise IT Consulting has the expertise to address a wide range of IT requirements.

A premier MESA partner, Wise IT Consulting believes deeply in MESA’s mission to foster innovation and growth in the Minnesota technology community with pro bono mentoring of software startups. We sat down with Dan Wisniewski, CEO and owner of Wise IT, to discuss his approach to IT staffing and his relationship with MESA.

In your own words, tell us about Wise IT Consulting.

Unlike traditional staffing agencies, we take a more personalized approach. We’re committed to understanding each client’s unique needs and developing customized solutions that align with their goals – everything from identifying candidates for contract engagements that can be part-time or full-time for a specific period up to multiple years or recruiting for part-time or full-time placements. For the MESA community, especially with growing businesses, specific technical expertise is needed but not on a full-time basis. That’s a situation we understand and a hurdle we can help growing companies address with the right talent.

We focus on serving the local market, but we also deliver resources across the United States and Latin America. Our expertise in Latin American markets offers a unique advantage, leveraging cultural similarities and time zone alignment to provide seamless collaboration.

What’s new in the world of IT staffing and for Wise IT?

Fractional work and roles are the big news. We’re seeing more calls for this after the pandemic where budgets are tight and companies are trying to figure out how to get important work done within a specific budget. At Wise IT, we’re staffing everything from fractional CIOs, fractional DBAs, and even fractional network engineers. And the big advantage of that for businesses, including small businesses or startup organizations, is that they don’t have to fit into a mold. You can say, ‘Here’s what I need to accomplish and the budget I need to work within’ and we typically have resources that can work within those parameters. The key here is to understand your end goals and we can help show you the alternatives to reach your goal.

Tell me more about how you support your clients.

You know, we’re frequently helping our clients with their processes. Often, that’s understanding what good hiring practices are and how they ensure they hire the right person for the role. Or, how to take someone through an interview process, onboard them, and transition them to an employee. Personally, I have 25 years of recruiting and sales industry experience that we leverage to make sure that not only are they bringing the right people on board when they need them, but they’re bringing them in in the right way to ensure that they’re going to be there as long as possible.

What distinguishes Wise IT from other staffing and recruiting firms?

Transparency is a core value at Wise IT Consulting.  I believe in open communication with both clients and candidates. We provide complete rate transparency, and we match not only skills but culture as well. We want our clients and talent to be completely comfortable with us and to know they are getting a fair deal that meets the needs of all involved.

Why did Wise IT get involved with MESA?

One of my feelings as a CEO and owner is that we need to look beyond our profits. We need to look at the impact that we have not only on our employees and our clients but within our communities – city, county, state, nationally, and even internationally.

The reason I got involved with MESA is because I see an opportunity to grow the next generation of businesses. The more each of us can help foster a stronger economy in Minnesota, nationally, and worldwide, the more we and future generations will benefit from that. And if there is something that I can do today to help our kids grow up in a stable and growing economy, count me in.

I think MESA is an incredible organization and the impact that we’re making is impressive. You don’t often see organizations focused solely on helping young software businesses grow. More people should know about what we’re doing and join in to support the mission. The vast majority of revenue and job creation comes from small and mid-size businesses, and in particular,  technology businesses. So it’s worthy to support and grow these businesses to keep our economy strong and prosperous.
